✨ It was a Wednesday, a long time ago — a crisp winter morning in Cape Town. After dropping the kids off at school, we hit the road to Gordon’s Bay, chasing adventure and a little coastal magic. 🌊

From Gordon’s Bay, we followed the scenic R44, a road that clings to the Hottentots-Holland mountains on one side and kisses the Atlantic on the other. It’s a route full of winding curves, dramatic cliffs, and the kind of views that make you stop, breathe, and soak it all in. Of course, we stopped at every viewpoint we could to take a many photos as possible 😂!

Our journey led us to the botanical garden in Betty’s Bay, where we snuck in a few quiet photos when no one was around 📸. After that, we wandered the dunes, boots crunching in the sand — yes, I came prepared for a bit of rock climbing! After a few snap on the beach, we had to hurry back to pick up the kids from school. And we made it just in time! 😉😂

It’s one of my favorite drives… a little wild, a little peaceful, and absolutely unforgettable.

The 350,000th photo was taken at this really special spot — a waterfall we’ve only been to once. To get there, we had to hike for about an hour to an hour and a half, and it wasn’t easy at all. It was uphill, downhill, climbing over rocks, ducking under trees, and even clambering over some.

I’m not exactly small or super fit, and honestly, the last time I saw the inside of a gym was… never. 😅 My poor husband had to carry all the camera gear and a backpack stuffed with food, bubbly, high heels, a change of clothes, and who knows what else.

Once we got to the waterfall, I got dressed, and we started snapping away — and just like that, we hit the 350,000 photo milestone!

On this Wetnessday, midweek’s embrace,

I sit before the waterfall’s grace.

The world slows down, the worries fade,

In nature’s arms, my soul’s remade.

By the falls, I find my way,

Inspired to soar through every day.

Hello everyone! We just got home, and although I thought I’d have time to download and edit the photos, I ran out of time. The downloading took way too long. I really wanted to surprise you with a potpourri of what we got up to this week—but that’ll have to wait until Monday. 😓

While I think the photos will turn out great, the week itself was hell. When we arrived, we were told the water supply was broken. No water at all. We figured it’d just be a day or two… but nope—fuck NO! It only came back on this morning, right before we left. 🙃

Then, on the very first morning—with no water—we had to drive all the way back home just so I could shower. An hour and a half drive there, quick shower, full makeup, and an hour and a half back to the guesthouse. A whole day gone before we could even take the first photo!

Then yesterday… I broke the couch. 😯🫢 WTF, right?

So what do we do? Tell the owner? Stay quiet?

NOPE! We flipped the couch on its back, ripped off the cover to see what broke—and we found it fast. A $12,000 leather couch with a broken rib! One of the wooden supports had snapped.

We looked, we planned, then headed straight to the hardware store. $70 later (and a quick water stop), we rushed back with straps, a new electric screwdriver, and screws. It was a battle! Couldn’t fix it the first time—so back to the store. This time: wood glue, a staple gun, and longer screws. Back we went. An hour of sweating, swearing, and sheer determination… and we fixed it! Like new. We stapled the covering back on—and Bob’s MY uncle! 😅

I can only imagine the look on the owner’s face if they ever open that couch and find ratchet straps, metal strips, and a whole lot of screws holding it together. 😂🤣

So yeah… definitely not our most well-oiled trip—but I know we’ve got some great photos and videos to share.
