Oliver brought a lady friend to the dog park pond today!! We’ve been friends for 5 years. Everyone meet Laurel 🦆 The gentle monarch vs. the wild-hearted dancer, each with their own rhythm, yet somehow moving in harmony.
Oliver & Laurel: The Noble Duck & The Water Dancer
Oliver:
“The pond is glass, the sky is clear,
I glide with grace, I lead with cheer.
No need for haste, no cause for fuss,
The water bends to follow us.”
Laurel:
“The water bends? Oh, is that so?
Then watch me send it up in throws!
A splash, a dive, a tail flipped high,
The pond is not just glass—it flies!”
Oliver:
“A queen need not disturb the tide,
A leader moves with quiet pride.
Yet here you dance, all wild unrest—
Is stillness not the wiser test?”
Laurel:
“Stillness? Bah! The sky is wide,
The pond’s too big to simply glide!
Why float when I can flip and spin?
Why rest when I can leap within?”
Oliver:
“Then dance, dear Laurel, dance away,
But hear me when the ripples sway.
For even waves must find their shore,
And even winds must spin no more.”
Laurel:
“Oh, Oliver, you noble thing,
Your wisdom wraps you like a wing.
But I am laughter, light, and flight—
And I will splash into the night!”
And so they move, a pair unmatched,
One still, one free, yet both attached.
The noble duck, the water’s queen,
A perfect pair—serene and seen.
