Ironing the Paraspinals.
Locate the receiver’s spine, and then just lateral on either side of the spine there is a long mound of muscle from the top of the hips to the neck. These are the Paraspinals. Place one hand, fingers pointing toward the receiver’s head, on the lower right Paraspinals. Place the other hand on top of the first for stability. Lean into both hands and with the heel of the bottom hand iron up the Paraspinals from the hip to the top of the shoulders. Do a couple of slow passes on the right, and then iron the Paraspinals on the left side of the spine a couple of times.
The Paraspinal muscles, also known as the Erector Spinae are responsible for our ability to forward bend, back bend, side bend, and twist our torso; basically all of the ways our spine can move. Give these muscles lots of love by ironing them out on a regular basis.
