Today, I'm sitting at the airport waiting to take a trip that I booked a few days ago. Last week, it felt like my life was put on pause. I didn't know what the future looked like or what my way forward was. I felt overwhelmed, and even basic tasks that I needed to do to take care of myself felt impossible. All I felt capable of doing was sitting in that sadness. I thought I just needed a couple of days to recover, and as we can both see, I was wrong. But I know what I need now to find closure. It's 1,000 miles away. And by the time I fly home on Sunday, I will have it. Thank you for giving me the room and grace, to just be Nikki and not "baby girl Nikki". I logged in to read your messages, even though I couldn't respond. Seeing the way that you care for me as a person and a friend, and your genuine concern for me and my husband, brought me to tears more than once. I didn't know what to expect when I made this page and started doing what I do. But one thing that I never expected was meeting such amazing people and building real friendships that go beyond the obvious. It means more to me than I can express. I am going to start slowly coming back to normal chatting and normal posting. But I couldn't do that without saying a special "thank you". From the bottom of my heart, I truly appreciate you.
