I don't know when you were born...but i definitely forgot about these obscure cartoons from the 1990s:
Mummies Alive! (1997-1998) – This action-adventure series followed four ancient Egyptian guardians who come back to life in modern-day San Francisco to protect a reincarnated prince from an evil sorcerer named Scarab. The mummies had powerful armor and unique abilities, combining mythology with superhero elements.
The Mighty Kong (1998) – An animated musical adaptation of the classic King Kong story, this movie featured the voice talents of Dudley Moore and Jodi Benson. It retold the tale of Carl Denham’s expedition to Skull Island and Kong’s capture, adding songs and a more lighthearted tone. It was released directly to video and didn’t gain much attention compared to other animated films of the era.
Project G.e.e.K.e.R. (1996) – This sci-fi comedy followed an artificial humanoid named Geeker, who was designed to be the ultimate weapon but escaped before his programming was complete, making him unstable and unpredictable. With his friends, Lady MacBeth and a dinosaur named Noah, Geeker evaded an evil corporation that wanted to recapture him. The show was praised for its humor and quirky characters but was canceled after one season.
Captain Simian & the Space Monkeys (1996-1997) – This space opera parody followed Captain Charles “Chuck” Simian, an Earth monkey who was launched into space and evolved into an intelligent being. He led a team of super-intelligent monkeys to defend the universe against an evil entity called Nebula. The show was known for its witty humor, pop culture references, and clever science fiction concepts but struggled to find a large audience.
Skeleton Warriors (1994-1995) – This darker, action-oriented series was set on the planet Luminaire, where a group of heroes fought against the evil Baron Dark, who could turn people into skeletal warriors. The show had a gothic, sci-fi aesthetic and featured complex storytelling and themes of power and corruption. It was paired with a toy line but only ran for one season.
