First half of this photo set for you 🖤 And now here’s the reason for the sale ~ As most of you know, I live and work on a family farm. It’s my passion and what brings me joy! My specialty is medical care and baby care. Back in January a medical case was given to our farm, a newborn goat who couldn’t move anything except her neck and head, so she was mainly given to me to be in my care and for me to work on her case. Her name was Helen and she was my best friend. (,: For about 5 weeks she lived in my room where she was given 24 hour care. I came up with a diagnosis due to her very odd symptoms and we stayed on the treatment plan for that diagnosis. After a couple weeks of intense medical intervention and physical therapy, Helen was walking. And then running. And then jumping. We put her in the baby stall for a test run and she acclimated quickly, refusing to go back inside with me. She finally got the chance to be a baby goat, as she should’ve all along. Unfortunately a few days ago, Helen did not wake up for morning feed. As y’all saw from my time with Bubby and the fundraiser I posted after, I take these sort of losses very hard. Helen was not a show goat (like the rest of our goats), Helen was a vital member of our family. For me, they’re all family members. But Helen was an indoor baby, a family member to everyone living here. Helen made my days better and she was so strong, so sweet, so special. With livestock, there is a way to get a second chance, cloning. I know that a second Helen will not be the same as the first but it is an opportunity for me to give a goat with her identical genetic makeup the chance to have the life she should have had from the beginning. Helen deserved more time to be a goat. And a member of our family. I know many of us have lost pets and you understand how absolutely heavy it feels to have that part of your life missing. I’m not going to pretend that this decision isn’t a lot of selfishness but I think we all would jump at the chance to have a pet back if we could. I hope one day this technology is available to everyone and their pets and families but in this instance, I am blessed to have goats as pets. Livestock cloning is so wild and I am open to any questions or conversations anyone would want to have about it, or if you want to talk about Helen.. I’d love that too. 🥹 I am running a sale for the next few months on *everything*. Content, subscription prices, ratings, GFE, all of it. This experience is very expensive and I’m lucky to have another family member going halves with me on it. For the sake of awareness of the cost, I’m going to make the goal of this fundraiser my half of the procedure. Again, I am open to questions, conversations, anything anyone wants to know. And for those future or current farmers/breeders, please please CDT vaccinate your pregnant mamas, the outcome of not vaccinating can be catastrophic to animals *and* the people who care for them (it is also ethical ranching). Please help me get a second chance with a healthier Helen, a chance where she gets the life she deserves. 🖤
