Metal Lathe: Pros- cheaper; they also teach you your way around a few other metal work machines; once I learn to use it I might find that it applies to a lot of ideas that might be on the horizon for me Cons: less applicable to projects I'm likely to take on immediately; technically more expensive per hour ($33.33/hr of instruction) CNC Router: Pros- Now that I'm working at my parents' property I have access to SO MUCH WOOD that this could be useful to play with; I already have a small project I might want to try; once I learn it, I'll definitely find new projects to use the machine for; cheaper by the hour ($25/hr of instruction); I have some grasp of software similar to what I'll need to learn to use this machine Cons- more expensive; I'd have to learn at least two new software systems; greater time commitment; feels less hardcore than fucking with metal
