I couldn't decide which picture I liked better so why not both? Anyway, this is how I wasted my afternoon: I have spent the last hour googling pinouts, schematics, and guides to understanding USB type-A 3.0 and USB type-C plugs and finally decided that the likelihood of soldering together my own phone charger wasn't worth the fine, precise soldering that would be required nor the potential for disaster if I make a mistake. I read about a guy Breckinridge (*edit: bricking! Idk why it autocorrected so strangely,, maybe my phone is afraid of the concept) his $1500 Pixel 2 because a cable manufacturer swapped the ground wire and the live/hot wire. That sounds like way too much pressure!
